The latest addition to the ever-growing Batov Records roster is the incredible Sababa 5 . Their debut release Crossroad of Love feat. Yurika, is now available to pre-order on 7″ vinyl!
Sababa 5 was formed by a group of musicians known for their work for some of Tel Aviv’s top artists/vocalists, such as Gili Yalo, Ester Rada and Liraz Charhi. The band have also worked with famous groups such as Hoodna Orchestra, Tigris and Kutiman Orchestra.
With a range of influences that range from wrecking crew recordings from the 60’s, to analog Middle Eastern music from the 70’s, the sound of the band constantly revolves around different genres and rhythms. Yet, in its core, ‘Sababa 5’ is always a groove-centric band.
Yurika also makes her debut as a vocalist on this release, having started life as a dance back in Japan. After finishing her studies with celebrated middle eastern dancer Orly Portal, Yurika remained in Tel Aviv and worked with respected bands such as Boom Pam, Ouzo Bazooka, and now, Sababa 5.
