Following their very popular debut release ‘Crossroad of Love’, Sababa 5 and Yurika are back on the exclusive Middle Eastern Grooves with their newest double-sided 7” collaboration titled Tokyo Midnight 東京ミッドナイト: an encounter of cultures inspired by the funky and exotic melodies of Sababa 5 and the suave Japanese words of Yurika.

Title track Tokyo Midnight 東京ミッドナイト opens with a groovy guitar riff and continues to an upbeat rhythmic workout, complete with a funky bassline and ululating keyboards. Yurika’s enchanting voice ties things together in a soft, yet hypnotic, musical whirlwind. The lyrics are inspired by Yurika’s memories at Soup di Nero, an ‘80s themed bar in Ebisu Tokyo, and her friendship with the late owner, Kuro-chan.
On the B-side, ‘Nasnusa’ opens with a beautiful guitar solo performed by guitarist and continues into captivating rhythm inspired by traditional Mizrahi music, while Yurika smooth vocals evoke a love story, a couple watching the sunset setting over the sea and how it felt like the gates to a new world were opening. As Nasnusa is going into the light, her lover recalls her beauty and express fondness over the wonderful time they spent together.
